No. I was raised by a wonderful Episcopal church that actually celebrated my refusal to be confirmed. I didn’t want to be confirmed for religious reasons. I deeply enjoyed my confirmation studies and was appalled that the church required doctrinal belief in a couple of things and believed that without that belief, one was condemned. I was 19 when I found First Unitarian Church of Omaha, and was the social justice chair there right after I joined the church until recently. Seminary has limited my involvement in my church quite a bit.
I connected with my Episcopal minister on Facebook, he was excited that I was going into ministry! I still hold his sermons as the gold standard for preaching.
